Ingredients you will need for This homemade strawberry frosting

Cream Cheese-Make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature. This adds the creaminess and firmness to the frosting.

Butter-Make sure your butter is at room temperature to ensure it beats up smooth and creamy.

Maple sugar (powdered)-Needs to be powdered into a fine powdery mix, otherwise you will have a grainy frosting. Should feel like brown sugar as you run it through your finger tips.

Freeze dried strawberries (powdered)-I do not recommend using any other strawberries for this frosting. Freeze dried strawberries are dehydrated, thus all the moisture is removed and the strawberry flavor is more concentrated. This gives you the most strawberry flavor!

Almond extract-Compliments the strawberry flavor-I recommend not skipping this.

Honey-Acts like corn syrup in frosting and gives it a beautiful sheen.

how to make cream cheese frosting without powdered sugar

Making this homemade strawberry frosting refined sugar free is easier than you think. Instead of using powdered sugar, you simply replace the powdered sugar with powdered maple sugar. My favorite brand to use is Pure Maple from A&Ait comes already powdered and is great for using as an alternative to refined sugars.

  1. Using a high powered blender or food processor, pulverize the freeze dried strawberries and set aside.

  2. Cream together room temperature butter and cream cheese.

  3. Add in almond extract, honey and powdered maple sugar-Note: you may need to pulverize the maple sugar until it is very fine like brown sugar consistency.

  4. mix on high with electric mixer or stand mixer until well incorporated-3-5 minutes, the frosting will begin to get light in flavor and fluffier, scape down the sides of the bowl as necessary.

  5. Add in powdered strawberries and mix until incorporated. Cover and store in refrigerator until ready to use. Take out 30 minutes prior to frosting dessert.
