Easy Maple Candied Pecans Recipe (Naturally Sweetened)
Equipment
- 3 Medium mixing bowls
- Large baking sheet
Ingredients
- 3 cups pecans
- 1 large Egg white
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 cup Coconut sugar
- 1/4 cup Maple sugar granulated (not syrup)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Mix the dry ingredients. In a medium bowl, combine coconut sugar, maple sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
- Whip the egg white. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg white for 1–2 minutes until frothy with soft, runny peaks.
- Coat the pecans. Add 3 cups of pecans to the egg white mixture and toss until fully coated. Sprinkle the sugar mixture over the pecans and stir well to ensure every pecan is evenly covered.
- Bake. Spread the coated pecans evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through to promote even caramelization.
- Cool and store. Allow pecans to cool completely before storing. Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 month or in the freezer for 2-3 months.

Grateful for a recipe without refined sugar. Can you use extra coconut sugar instead of maple sugar? Or would it be better to use maple syrup if I can’t find maple sugar?
Hi Anna, You can definitely replace the maple sugar with all coconut sugar. I don’t recommend using maple syrup in this recipe. Because the oven temperature is relatively low, and maple syrup contains added water, it won’t reach the higher temperatures needed for the sugars to properly cook down and harden. This can result in pecans that are soft or sticky rather than crisp. Hope that helps!
