Note: Don’t skimp on the seasonings- for an extra bold Chex mix recipe. The buttery seasoning mixture contains: 

  • Butter- I use unsalted butter here, there is plenty of salt in the salted nuts and bagel seasoning. 

  • Coconut aminos- You can also substitute Worcestershire’s sauce, but I would reduce by 1 tbsp if using in replace of coconut aminos. 

  • Garlic powder

  • Onion powder

  • Mustard powder or Dijon mustard 

  • Everything bagel seasoning 

  • Rice Chex mix

  • Simple mills cheddar pops- Simple Mills Miniature Cheddar Pops are gluten free and really delicious!

  • Peanuts- or whatever nuts you prefer

  • Cashews

How to make Healthy Homemade Chex Mix

Step 1. In a large bowl add Chex mix, cheddar pops, and nuts.

Step 2. In a measuring cup, melt butter until liquid. Add coconut aminos, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard and everything bagel seasoning. Mix until incorporated.

Step 3. Pour liquid mixture over Chex mixture, stirring and coating evenly.

Step 4. Pour Chex mixture onto baking sheet with ledge. Bake in 250-degree oven for 45 minutes, stirring mixture every 10-15 minutes.

Step 5. Once cooled, store in Ziploc bag. Can be stored for 2 to 3 weeks.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups Rice chex mix gluten free
  • 1 4oz box Simple mills cheddar pops About 2 cups
  • 1 cup Cashews salted
  • 1 cup peanuts salted
  • 1/2 cup Melted butter unsalted
  • 1/4 cup Coconut aminos
  • 2 tbsp Everything bagel seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard powder or 1 tbsp stone Dijon mustard

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  • In a large bowl add Chex mix, cheddar pops, and nuts.
  • In a measuring cup, melt butter until liquid. Add coconut aminos, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard and everything bagel seasoning. Mix until incorporated.
  • Pour liquid mixture over Chex mixture, stirring and coating evenly.
  • Pour Chex mixture onto a rimmed baking sheet. Bake in 250 degree oven for 45-55 minutes, stirring mixture every 10-15 minutes.
  • Allow to cool and enjoy. Store in Ziploc bag or airtight container.
