When it comes to deviled eggs I’m usually a classic deviled egg girly, but let’s be honest, they can sometimes be a bit… predictable.
Recently, though, I saw pickles popping up as a major 2025 food trend on Pinterest. And since Easter’s right around the corner and deviled eggs are on my mind, I decided to experiment with a pickled version, specifically pickled deviled eggs with a maple bacon jam.
This isn’t your grandma’s deviled egg. It’s a marriage of tangy, spicy, sweet, and savory all in one bite. Imagine the creamy, slightly spicy filling, studded with crunchy pickle and jalapeño, crowned with sticky-sweet, smoky maple bacon jam. Honestly, it’s the best flavor combination in years, hands down.
1. Place the Eggs:
Place your eggs in a single layer in a saucepan.
Cover the eggs with cold water by about an inch.
2. Bring to a Boil:

3. Remove From Heat and Let Sit:
Let sit for 10 minutes. Then cool them off in an ice bath before placing in the fridge.
Hard-Boiled Eggs- Organic pastured raised eggs for the best quality.
Mayo- I like to use avocado mayo, but regular works just as good for these. For dairy free, opt for the avocado mayo.
Dijon Mustard-
Pickled Jalapenos-
Pickles- Use a sweet pickle like bubbies bread and butter pickles
Garlic powder granules- Use granules, not powder, if you only have powder just use a dash and not the full 1/8th tsp.
Salt and Pepper- To taste
Bacon Jam– Recipe here
Chives- Garnish
When it comes to adding a sweet and tangy element these jalapeno deviled eggs with bacon jam, the choice between bread and butter pickles and dill pickles can significantly impact the final flavor profile.
Bread and butter pickles, with their sweet and slightly vinegary taste, offer a delightful counterpoint to the heat of the jalapenos and the savory richness of the bacon jam. Their sweetness can help mellow out the spice, creating a more balanced and approachable flavor. My personal favorite are Bubbies bread and butter pickles which can be found at almost any store.
This surprisingly easy bacon jam recipe comes together in under 30 minutes. Simply chop and cook bacon, reserving some fat, then simmer with onions, garlic, maple sugar, balsamic vinegar, and coconut aminos until thick, sweet and savory. My deviled egg strategy is all about smart prep. I make the bacon jam up to five days ahead, knowing it keeps beautifully for a week. The eggs get hard-boiled, peeled, and filling made the day before, with whites and filling stored separately. Then, on the big day, it’s just a matter of filling and garnishing right before serving – stress-free and delicious!
Deviled eggs should be refrigerated within two hours of preparation. This is crucial to prevent the growth of bacteria.
Use a Shallow container with a tight-fitting lid: If you don’t have a specialized container, use a shallow, airtight container. Arrange the deviled eggs in a single layer. For best taste and texture, it’s ideal to consume them within 2 days.
